Today's 'B' challenge is our next 'easier said then done'. That being . . . Be a good parent (and yes, strive to be great). But, what does that mean? At a minimum, a good parent provides, teaches, disciplines, communicates, coaches, cheers, protects, and loves in ways that are effective. And yes, it requires sacrifice, patience, understanding and forgiveness. I also know some men out there are thinking . . . 'Whoa, what?' |
That's why it is easy to father a child then to be a 'Dad' to a child (aka a commitment is key). It starts with a decision to be the best parent that you can be. Mistakes and “I shoulda's” will unfold and that is okay. Just know that being a good parent is a life long effort. Your reward are fun times, great memories and kids who become good adults and good parents down the road. Is that it then? Nope, all of the above is just the start. |
And, if you want some more helpful considerations, embrace:
-Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not embitter your children,
or they will become discouraged.
