The REAL Man's File: Volume 1 and Volume 2
|
A few years back, our Men's Group pursued one of Dr. Robert Lewis' Men's programs - and it was very insightful. This pdf file is a summary of just some of the good things we learned in that study. It is shared here for your use.
|
Next up is this follow up to Volume One. It (Volume Two) is intended to be a series of quick reads - one file at a time as you wish to consider.
|
|
Next up, these FREeReads above & below, help you to start thinking on those aspects that you may want to pursue.
Criteria 4 Manhood [your first consideration]
Our thanks to Dr. R.A. Mohler for what he believes are the 'marks for biblical manhood'. We've taken his information and created this FREe B file to the right. We're going to ponder his words and our thoughts on this further and we hope you will review it as well - and let us know your comments or recommendations.
|
|
The Measure of a Man [your second consideration]
|
Sometimes it is just good to pause and take a good hard look at yourself, your decisions, you life in process. This file and the questions asked will help you to see if you 'measure up'.
|
The 7 Needs [your third consideration]
This quick read is just a 20 page ponder for you to decide . . . are there just 7 Needs, or would you say more, or less?

Now the following are for the Dads out there who would like to see if there are any easy to read 'helps' on what to consider for being a better Dad. These all contain quick read topics, challenges, insights that we hope helps you to think about what you can and or should do as a Dad. At a minimum, when your kids are starting out, your want to teach them to observe, to think, to speak and to act. But know this, it is the 'what do these mean' that makes all the difference.
So, take a look and pick & choose those aspects that help you to be the best Dad you can be.
So, take a look and pick & choose those aspects that help you to be the best Dad you can be.
To start, here are 3 reads for the new Dad who wants to get a 'heads up' on what to be thinking about as his toddler(s) starts to grow up.
(1) A Dad's Book A: [the] Challenge
|
This FREeBook is provided to give you a fun and easy to read on things you should consider as a dad (click on this 4 Father's Day 2022 . . . link for the background on when we first shared this).
|
(2) Discipline vs Correction vs ???
A couple of weeks back, I posted below the "Lessons All Dads. . . " info that I thought was worth considering and pursuing. I'll now add to that, this information made available from Andy Andrews. I've found his web site ( http://www.andyandrews.com/ ) to be very beneficial for great stories and materials to pursue. So, if you have a few minutes sometime this week, open and review this FREe B from Andy and let me know your comments.
And please remember - what Andy shares, some may agree with and some may not. That is okay. We share this information as a help to all dads as they review the approach they think is best for their kids.

|
(3) Being a Dad - Starting Out: Coulda
This FREeBook is an easy read that you can download on your smartphone or laptop. Take a look and let us know of any comments.
And please note: This "Coulda" book and the others (above & below) are provided as easy to read, with a chuckle or two mixed in along the way in order to just help you to start thinking on the types of things that you may want to pursue for your kids.
And the best news - this is all free. FYI: more on this via our https://decide2be.weebly.com/guys-garage/addo-special-break-1-of-3 |
Last of all - to close on these first 3 FREeBooks for new Dads, as to why should you read & consider these? Because wouldn't it be great if you pursued the actions that helped to teach your pre-school age kids - at least these 3 things? That they would know and could say:
I am Smart, I am Kind, and I am Respectful. And they would have a great start in getting prepared for their kid years ahead.
I am Smart, I am Kind, and I am Respectful. And they would have a great start in getting prepared for their kid years ahead.
Now these next 3 reads are for those dads working from the toddler years and into the kid years.
(4) A Dad's Book B: [is to] Pursue
This follow up to Book A is the same type of easy to read and good to consider as your years of being a dad, continue to unfold (aka food for thought).
|
|
(5) Lessons All Dads Should Teach Their Kids. . .
This file shares some lessons that you may want to teach your kids.
The will you or won't, is up to you. (6) Being a Dad - Stepping Up: Woulda
|
Please note: This book continues the 'easy to read, a chuckle here & there and . . . yep, that is a good idea to ponder further' that I wanted all Dads of Kids to be able to look at via the phones when they have a couple of minutes. The goal = just think and then pursue what you want to achieve while your kid(s) are in their kid years. Because if you don't, they'll be teens before you know it and your Dad Challenges then, may be bigger. And if you're not sure what I mean, see this: https://decide2be.weebly.com/guys-garage/addo-special-break-2-of-3
These last 3 reads are for the dads working on transitioning from the kid years and into and through their teen's years of interesting challenges.
(7) A Dad's Book C: [great] Insights
|
This Book C, wraps up what Books A & B provided. It is to help you on thinking about the things to consider and possibly do as your kids get ready for their teen years.
|
(8) How to save yourself a $500.00 or more
Have you ever wondered??? If I only knew this when I was younger, I'd of saved myself a lot of money or heartache. . .
|
|
FYI, in this "Can I Do Better?" is a 15 minute read & ponder opportunity for you. It contains two actions you should consider before you end up wanting a 'do over'. The first are the Rules that your Teen should know (a great follow up to the words shared above). The second are the Things you should teach your teen before they move out. As to the 'Why should I read this?' What is 15 minutes of your time now worth, compared to expenses you and/or your teen will have or could avoid down the road? Thanks in advance for considering this.
(9) Being a Dad - Staying Engaged: Shoulda
And yes - if you would like to know why this FREeBook was created, click on this hot link to see the background information:
https://decide2be.weebly.com/guys-garage/addo-special-break-3-of-3 Which means - this is a start for you. What else would you add or do? |
And now to close on this page . . .
(10) He who fails to plan. . .
Per our April 15th, 2015 Blog - I referenced Andy Andrews' book "The Butterfly Effect". Andy has created and shared a lot of good information over the years as to helping ourselves as individuals or as parents. I'd like to share the following with the request for feedback (as in, what do you think?) Is this good information (helpful) or not, does it trigger any ideas or information that you have that we should post?. Here goes. . .
A few years back, I shared information from Andy Andrews' book "The Traveler's Gift". What I shared were his "7 Decisions" to help us pursue a life of greater success. Although that was some good information then, I thought - we have to go further. Hence this information now shared.
If you like a bit of history and some very good motivations mixed in, then this book may be a good one for you. If you do pursue it, it will help you to think about your current situation and of what you want to pursue for your years ahead. To compliment that book or as a stand alone resource are these following helps to consider via this pdf shown below.
In this FREe B, Andy gives us:
- Examples of "Perpetual Calendars" to help you to define and track your progress to move forward on your goals.
- Insights on creating your own "1 Year Vision" statements and "7 Year Vision" instructions.

Now, why am I sharing and recommending this information from Andy? Because at the least, it is thought provoking and at the most, it is a great template to leverage for changing your life going forward.
Could there be other approaches to similar concepts? Sure, find those and leverage them if you can but if you can't find something like these - here you go. Leverage any aspects that help and next week - watch for a new OH2C. And remember: He who fails to plan, plans to fail. |
(11) Want to be Debt Free?
|
The FREe B file is a free resource from Money4Life Coaching. It may give you some good ideas to consider and to pursue. Let us know if it triggers any comments or recommendations. Thanks!

(12) In Pursuit of Faith. . .
In follow up to our April 29th, 2015 blog on checklists, I posted the following and ask for your feedback (use our Contact Form).
I've been thinking about how best to share our faith or to help someone who wants to pursue their own faith journey? I will now share the following as a type of "I'm thinking out loud" action (and I'm curious if any of the following triggers other comments or recommendations):
_ I thought, this is something to not take lightly. What would I say, how would I share, encourage and follow up?
_ I would assume, at what point - how best and how much would I share of my faith story (my why, how, when, where, etc).
_ I then thought - I better be careful, for example, shouldn't I at some early point ask of them what do they know from the Bible or from others?
_ Wouldn't I want to ask them, what do they want to know (would I be the right person who could help them)?
_ Should I be careful and ask them, will they want some advice or recommendations - for example what to read first and steps to pursue?
The more I thought on the above, I thought yes, all of these aspects could be appropriate - it just depends on the type of person that reaches out to me or I reach out to. These thoughts then prompted me to wonder, how do I view my own faith journey? One as well on my way with some good things to share or one that may be 'not as far along as I would like'? Which then reminded me of the great words that the Apostle Paul wrote in the 12th chapter of his epistle to the church starting in Rome (what we call, The Book of Romans). I took those words and put them into a visual format that looks a bit like a Checklist for us Christians (a kind of 'use this to check how well we think we're doing').

My hope with the above and with the chart to the right is that anyone who reads these words, ponders their progress on their faith journey and realizes, some are further along than others and that is okay.
And know this. It doesn't matter how far we are on our journey as much as it matters that we want to help and to encourage and to walk beside others as they pursue theirs. God wants us to have a relationship with him, and us with others. Those actions are what pleases God. Romans 12:1-21 (good stuff!). Also as an FYI - my . . .

To close on this - I know so far, I would consider all the above and pursue a careful, encouraging, committed action. I know what books of the Bible I would encourage to read first, as well as what Bible verses I would share and why. I also know of some faith programs that I would encourage, of pursuit of a local church and I would also recommend others to engage with - if and when that person is ready. Now is the above, what I'm thinking and working to pursue as the need arises, correct? Hard to say. It is at least an awareness and a game plan that I'm taking in prayer to the Lord, looking for insight and excited for where all of this will lead me. What say you? Your actions and plans could differ and that is okay.
My prayers are for you and if any of us can teamwork together to help others come to faith or to grow in faith - then we are doing what we can to spread the good news!
