This third Y&T (yesterday & today) share looks at pictures that we and others see. And by for this, these few words from Earl Nightingale give us some good food for thought. He shared . . . “Every minute of every waking hour of every day of your life, you're projecting to others a picture of yourself and your personality. You can tell how this picture looks to the world by looking at what you're getting back.” | To do so, consider this. Every time you talk with someone on the phone you immediately form a mental picture of that person. |
And in doing so, as you are talking with them,
you are also making a judgment of them,
good or bad.
So yes – if you're doing this, so are they. And now, take this a step further and think about the visuals that we are taking in as we see and interact with others and then with us.
For example, do you appear pleasant, happy, angry, distracted or what?
It all comes down to this – just about everyone wears their look, their persona, day in and day out. Yes, some think they can fool others by portraying an image that they want others to see – but usually, everyone knows it is a false front. So, think about the look you normally convey and then think about those who you see that impress you or you admire to some degree.

Usually there is a calm look in their eyes, smiling seems to come naturally to them and you really don't seem them as complaining or being negative. their living life as they choose and they are confident in their words and actions. And this brings us to the challenge for you and me. We need to slow down and periodically take a good look at the 'who we are' that others see. Is it good or something that we really wise to be different? If it is great – congrats. But if it's not, now is the time to work on being who we are glad that we are. And if you are not sure what to work toward – pursue a picture of respect, of compassion, and of honor and you'll be on the right path. |
And as you think about this, know that my prayers and best wishes are for all.
