Our 7 part series now comes to a close with this final consideration. So then, the 7th message for jerks is: Don't be faithless, be faithful.
What does this mean and why? Because if you are like me, and trying to grow as a Christian, you know that we all need to put off our old self, and change to pursue the life
that God has called us to. One of purpose and goodness.
Now, to be good, do you have to be a Christian or one in faith? In theory, no but if you are trying to grow in faith, how do actually know 'what good is'? | Hence the jerk challenge. Too many depend on their views of right and wrong and sadly, what they view as right or at least as acceptable is what is at work in the mind of the jerks. If they don't have friends or family or someone, somewhere pointing out what is wrong, they will just continue on. And that is where an embrace of the Christian faith helps. First, if you are truly accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, you now also have the Holy Spirit working within you as your counselor (aka your conscience is stepping up). |
Second, in making a commitment to being a Christian who is trying to grow in their faith, you know that bad language (swearing, yelling, demeaning, etc), and bad actions (doing harmful or hurtful things) are separating you from God and His plans for you.
Which means - each of us must decide if we are going to accept aspects of wrong or if we are going to fight against them. And yes, the decision is ours. So it comes down to this. Over the last seven days, we covered the examples of jerkdom to be leery of, those being (1) despicable, (2) apathetic, (3) deceiving, (4) hypocritical, (5) distracted, (6) manipulative or (7) faithless. | These are good to avoid and if possible, good to fight against. |
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Thank you for viewing these considerations.
