There is a saying: Men often make a living but don't make a life. Tied to that, Robert Lewis reminded us of the song "Nowhere Man" by the Beatles. As a man in his mid 50s, I knew the song but wondered, do the young men of our community know it and can they appreciate the words conveyed?
Many men often miss the spirit of adventure in their lives and others lose it. Each age has its challenges and rewards. We just need to pursue our opportunities to think deeply about who we are and where we are going - and yes this requires us to make significant personal decisions as we reflect and pursue the actions that enable success.
What is success - is a very good question. Psalm 90:12 states: "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom". A good starting place for pursuit of success is the pursuit of wisdom. In the weeks to come we will share more information on "The Great Adventure" that we hope is helpful. Please let us know if you have any comments, questions or recommendations on subjects that would be beneficial for men (you can use our contact info on our home or resources tabs as desired). Thanks for pondering the above and for checking in (and if possible, participating in) on our weekly information shared. It all is an adventure - how good of one is up to us. | "Decide 2 Be Better..." Challenge. We all can want to be a better person, whether we are just depends if we take the actions required to be a better person. It starts with the desire to improve and is completed by the actions that we take that work us toward our goals. What those actions are depends on us. See our weekly blogs for ideas on what you can do to pursue those better steps. And don't forget, You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind. |
