Yesterday in seeing the news, two things began to churn within me. The first – how can the free world allow such a blatant act of aggression when they should have known that this was coming? The second – since the dangle of 'sanctions' did nothing to prevent innocent lives being lost in Ukraine, what have we (the world) learned, what will be done next, and how do we teach our kids what they should know so that future similar events don't happen? The title above and this image below gave me an idea as to what I would do next.
My challenge and I think the challenge for so many is this. How do we voice our frustration over a situation without being guilty of what Teddy Roosevelt once said? ( 'Complaining about a problem without posing a solution is called whining.' ) I thought, I have an opinion of what could have been done differently but I was not sure if my approach on sharing that would be viewed as a silly way to address a tough subject.
Which brings me back to the intent of this posting. How best to get Dads to think about the tough issues unfolding and how best for them to find ways to talk, to share, to teach their kids on what they want them to learn? Well, my goal is to help people to start thinking about the horror that is happening. That being, when a large country doesn't care what it does to others, it will do more to even more if not challenged. History has taught us that Germany, Italy and Japan did what they wanted for their countries. The result, WW2 caused approximately 25 million military deaths and approximately 55 million civilian deaths.
So, in thinking about all of this, I created the following (and yes it is different).
The Enterprise in transit from D.S. outpost Fri Dəm to Nodell-16, responded to a multi-language distress call from Ukr-3. Upon arriving they learn of terrorist actions by Klingon sympathizing factions who wanted UKr-3 to become a part of the Klingon Empire. Although Kirk knows the Ukrainians have no treaties with the Federation, he knows the Klingon Empire is not ready to pursue war against the Federation. He offers assistance and negotiates a Peace Keeping agreement, that would station Federation Peace Keepers on UKr-3.
The deployment of Federation Peace Keepers being there is transmitted by the Klingon sympathizers to the Klingon High Council. This thwarts their plans to invade Ukr-3 Klingon General Chang and his IKS Muqtovor Warbird party are then redirected to Nodell-16 to await further orders.
Later that night, in Kirk's Captain's log, he recorded:
"Captain's Log 2262.53, the Ukr-3 Security Council officially thanked the Federation for its assistance. When the Enterprise arrived, we realized the Ukrainian home planet was on the verge of being attacked by the Klingons.
I knew I had seen the word 'Ukrainians' once before and it was in the Star Fleet Academy required reading of "History Ignored, Failures Ensured" that was written in 2041 by Atlas Kirk Gore. In his writings, via one of the scenarios that he shared, he described the failed action of the Earth's 2022 leaders, who threatened the Russian aggressors with sanctions, which did not deter them, resulting in the Earth's February 24th, 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine.
Sadly, the unfolding death toll then of innocent Ukrainian people lead toward the UN creation and adoption of the Innocents Peace Keeper Policy that was implemented later that deterred China's desire to invade Taiwan. Gore's words then, 'Risk requires you to assess the agenda of your enemy, in order for you to fully determine your actions' also reminded me of the words said by General Maximus . . .
'What we do in life echoes in eternity.'
From those insights, I have requested Andorian representatives to participate in the Federation Innocents Peace Keeper force. They will rotate with the Tellar Prime force members in an overlapping deployment while the Vulcan force members rotate with our Earth force members. If an ultimate war with the Klingons cannot be avoided, I view this as a short term solution that enables at least some time before the Klingon Empire and the Federation are at war."
[and the last 35 words below are the most important]
Which brings us back to this day. We need all Dads now, more then ever to teach their kids as best they can about the evils in the world and what they should do to be vigilant and when to take action.
