For the Thanksgiving 2020 holiday weekend - we are changing things up. Since some of you younger dads have lost your copy of 'The Dad's Book, Volume 1' we are sharing Chapter 3 and it is as simple as this . . . the pdf file below is a Click & Read file that you can view for this chapter that is focused on: 10 solutions for kids that have difficulties. (It is recommended by dads of kids age 6 - 10).
We also thank Bill Watterson, Tony Dungy, and OMR for their insights shared. |
Oh . . . and don't forget . . . Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old they will not depart from it"

Now I will admit, this is a subject that I didn't talk with our kids on as they were growing toward their teen years because I did not have the appreciation for it as I do now – and I see it as a missed opportunity that can be avoided.
They need to understand challenges, sacrifices and rewards in terms they can understand and appreciate.
Because, if you can get them to understand and to embrace that sacrifice is a reality for us all, then you are helping to put your son or daughter on a path of becoming a contributing and honorable adult. And yes – grasping this [sacrifice] in our younger years is easier then being unprepared for it later in life. Thanks for thinking on this and remember . . . John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for another.” Our No or Know (NoK) series returns as we look into the Book of Proverbs for some insights on respect. From Proverbs 18:1 . . . we are warned of unfriendly actions but we must be able to recognize this in ourselves and in others.
[So] Do you know respect and say no to the lack of it? Because . . . For us to receive respect from others, we must also respect others. Our Path To Success (P2S) series starts today. And yes, just like of Path To Wisdom (P2W) that wrapped up, the following is for your consideration as your days ahead unfold. This second leg of the journey starts with this image and the words contained within it.
I personally . . . have never been a fan of just sitting there. I have felt we may not like what happens to us but it still comes down to what we will do to move forward. I recommend you size up the mess you are in and take action. Fight, push, challenge or whatever it takes - you have to decide what you want to take on for the success you wish to achieve. And yes, that is where our P2S series will take us. The following insights over the weeks ahead are for your consideration. Just decide what helps you the most.
Thanks for your consideration - our prayers and best wishes for all! |
