Locally we had a very nice Memorial Day program to honor those service men and women who died in service to our country, along with remembrances of those that served and who now have passed away. During that program, as I listened to the names being read out loud, I also thought of my Dad, my wife's Dad and of our neighbor who recently passed away (and all three of them served in the Navy). It also amazed me to hear all the names and of those, how so many were of the same extended families.
It made me proud to be living in a community where there is a rich history of service to our country.
All who have served in our military or are serving yet today have earned our respect. I just hope that respect, appreciation and the honor they deserve, does not just come out once or twice a year. So what does it mean to be a REAL man? Showing respect is just one way and by us teaching this to our kids is another.
