What triggered my new added thoughts on this was when middle son Alex recommended that I listen to Jocko Willink's #174 podcast. He (as an ex-Navy Seal) was discussing the challenge of how do we best rate the performance of someone or even yourself? Is good, great, fantastic the way? While I listened, I also began to sketch out this matrix which I show below. Now what I have created is just one way to start to think as to how do we measure or qualify the things we do and the impacts that we have? I know I feel that things that are important are ensured . . . and those that are not or not so [important] are pursued as best can. It is in that, where we must make a decision = Is 'this' that I am doing, important? If yes, how well am I doing it? I'd be curious to hear your thoughts - what say you? Some do - because . . . #RealMenStepUp

From that as our starting point, we now look at today and the future that we want to enable based on a framework of honor (that being in all that we want, and in how we pursue it).
Today we pause and ask – are you truly accountable for all that you say and do (are we accountable to our wife, to our kids, to our friends, to our employer, to ourselves and to God)? And the answer to all of them is yes.
We may think that we are but if we do not do a self check now and then . . . we really will not know if our character is on track as we like. And add to that our goal to help our kids to learn of and to embrace the challenge of accountability. Which brings us back to - if you have not - why not hold yourself accountable? If we understand what we do and do not do . . . matters, then we have the opportunity to step up with a commitment to leverage our abilities and opportunities for positive impacts.
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Romans 11:29 Thanks for considering and remember . . . #RealMenStepUp This is one that we tend to put off – but why? Are we too busy being focused on the 'now' or just not sure on how to think about the future and what we would like to see unfold? Join us on the challenge . . . to do well now and to envision your future. For if we don't, if it is not what we wish, or in what we don't enable, then we accept it knowing we have no one else to blame.
