Life isn't about being rich, or perfect, or better than anyone else. It's about being kind, respectful and honorable. It's about giving more that you take.
Most of all it's about loving, not hating.
Well, oversimplified it is what fuels our efforts to achieve our goals. Also, if those goals are good, we leverage our desire to keep that 'prize' out in front of us, so that we juggle what we must so we can achieve it.
But then, what is the downside? Well, that is when our desire clouds our perspective and we do the wrong things in order to obtain what we want. A great example of this Russia's Putin. Oversimplified, he wanted Ukraine to cave in to his pressure, for them to agree to basically become a puppet state of Russia. When they didn't, he ordered the invasion into a neighbor country – just because they did not submit to his desire. And hence, intimidation became an invasion, which unleashed brutality and the horrors that we are now seeing. This is when desire evolves to evil.
Therefore, we all need to have our desires to fuel us on those actions that are honorable . . . but we must beware that we can quickly stumble down a bad path if we sacrifice honor for achievement. Which means we need to check our motivations and actions being done.
Are they honorable and if not, we need to recognize it, make the required changes and if needed, to make amends. Thank you for thinking about this and for pursuing any of the course corrections needed. And if you can, help others to see the carefulness of desire. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
