So where do we begin? The first step is to confront mediocrity (because 'no one ever oozed their way out of mediocrity like a lazy slug'). And if you like that, keep reading.
Let us start with the assumption – that you would agree to that statement but you may be wondering . . . how do I confront mediocrity in my life? Per Chuck, he encourages us to start with 'memorize, personalize and analyze'. For example: find great quotes or scripture verses you like and memorize them. One of my favorites is: |
Then personalize those words so they help to reinforce your thoughts, goals, and character (define the aspect(s) that connect you to those words). And then analyze your thoughts, words and actions. Now you don't have to do this every day but you should periodically check yourself and the progress you are making (when you're not doing as well as you like, decide what to adjust, do so and move on).
And BTW . . . Jack London once said these words (a challenge to us all):
“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor . . . The proper function of a man is to live, not to exist. I shall never waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
