From the Book of Daniel for chapter 3 we learn that these three (now men known as Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego) were a part of one of the greatest displays of Spiritual courage as shared in the Bible. The King had ordered everyone to bow down and to worship the golden (90 foot tall) idol, yet they would not. And he (the King) in his anger ordered that they were to be thrown alive into the King's fiery furnace.
They understood what was expected and what the penalty would be, yet they stood by their faith.
We can only imagine their plight. | How would we act - if we had to denounce our faith (and live) or declare our faith (and die)? The question above is one to not take lightly - for it could happen some day (would we bow down to pressure or stand up to the challenge?). So what then can we do? We need to be stronger men, to always be ready to stand for our faith. It starts everyday with . . . Do what you can, where you can, when you can, because you can (don't doubt, do). And remember: |
