For this week, lets assume that we all know what 'vision' is. The question we'll address is its worth. Consider the following . . . Question 1: How much value would you say your marriage is worth? Question 2: If you have a family, what is that worth? Now ask yourself, do your actions show (match) the value you place on them? If you are like most of us - we would say our marriage, our family is the most important thing that we have but sadly, if we look at our actions, we may see we've invested more time elsewhere. Now we hope the above has you thinking that more may be needed but the how, the where and the when may need some figuring out. |
To get to a vision, you must know what you have and you must determine what you want to achieve. Just saying . . . you want to be successful, wealthy and happy - makes you no different than anyone else. Remember the variables: How do you view your marriage? "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord." (Proverbs 18:22). The great marriages don't just happen, they take commitment, communication, teamwork and love. If these are not in your marriage now as they need to be, start! How do you view your kids? "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!" (Psalm127:4). Drawing a bow and aiming the arrow well requires skill, strength, patience and practice. The same is true for raising your kids. You have to make the commitment! How do you view yourself? "The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his footsteps." (Proverbs 16:9). Where have your footsteps been taking you - are you on the path that you are proud of? If yes, continue but if no, now is the time to make the changes required! Answering the above gives you the fuel to determine the vision for your marriage and for your family. Decisions and sacrifices have to be made and that is okay (it shows we value them). | We hope all of this information shared gives you some good things to consider - and don't forget: Leadership is not something that only a few have skills in - we all have the ability to make decisions and that is the foundation for leadership. We also hope that this quote above from Vince L. via our Summer to Fall Review (S2FR) #9 on Leadership, as well as the bible verse shown, helps motivate you to start doing what you need to. |
