The following is a summary of our opening meeting and discussion that was titled, "The Heroic Journey". We encourage all to review the following as well as what will be shared over the weeks to come; to then ponder the information and to then pursue those aspects that look to be beneficial to you. For those that can do more, we would also ask that you join us by using the Comment button or the Contact Form available. Whatever you can comment on or ask questions of, will be appreciated and responded to.
Why? Because we all are on our journey of life. For some it is just to navigate the ups and downs as best can and for others, it is a faith journey that also encompasses all aspects of life - the good, the bad & the ugly. Know this, we thank you for joining us on this journey. Lets start with the following:
- Consider the world, the environment, this life that each of us are engaged in. Some would call it the 'jungle' and others would call it the 'rat race' but for our Knights/21 program, we'll call it the 'forest' (because it will help us to see that like in a forest, we can adjust our path, we can move a tree, go around a rock, etc).
- The culture of today has taught (or conditioned) males to. . . be afraid of thinking big, to conserve our energy for things that will not happen, to exchange confidence for comfort, to avoid risk, to count on luck, etc.
- But what we learned today, was that every Man is designed. . . to grow into his potential (but do we?), to long for adventure (something big to do), to have a battle to fight (for a cause, for our relationships, etc), and to protect the hearts of women (for our wife, our daughters).
This first session helped us to start thinking about our journey - to learn from what we have experienced and to be better equipped for what will unfold before us. What we have to ask of ourselves - do we want to pursue this Knight's Journey? We hope you say yes and will join us at our weekly meetings if you are near by. If you can't join us, we hope that your church pursues and enables this program and if you can't, please stay engaged via this D2B blog (and ongoing) recap and partnership going forward.
What you will see over the weeks to come are insights to ponder and to pursue on . . .
becoming aware of the purpose for our life (which we can accept or ignore),
to develop our potential, to gain insight of "Self" and "Others",
and to see how the Bible's view of reality can be understood and relevant for our manhood journey.
So, in closing. Thank you for considering the above and joining with us for our journey unfolding. Remember that as kids, we figured we would either bounce or break and that was okay because we would heal and learn. Many men we have lost a lot of that drive, that excitement and the opportunity to live the life that they should pursue. Know there are more details on our first session that we can share if you are interested. Have a great weekend ahead and don't forget these words from Matt. 7:14. . .
"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
