First, learning from others is a great way to save time. This week's blog is in tribute to one of my good friends, his wife and their three sons. See the words to the right for more on that. Second, as we men work to become the best that we can be, to pursue honor and do what we need to for our families - remember the following. From the rest of our "Man Alive" sessions: - For those who wonder; why do I have a lot of desctructive behaviors that drag me down? We have to see ourselves as we really are, to own it and as Christians - to allow our Godly sorrows to inspire deep change in our lives (ref. Romans 7:15-25). - Or those who; feel their soul is dry. They need to make the time to know about God and to know God (in their head and their heart, ref. John 4:24). - Or wonder; do I or what I do make a difference? Consider the words from John 15:8. These few questions above and the Bible verses referenced are just a few of the type of hard questions we need to ask of ourselves. We also know that insights from the Bible are available. | Have you ever heard of or been to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony? This last Sunday afternoon (April 13th, 2014), my wife and I were able to attend one and after we enjoyed that ceremony, it made me think of the following. It is not easy raising kids. Raising a son, working with them and helping them to achieve the Eagle Scout award is an accomplishment to be proud of. My good friend Karl Ladin and his wife Lynn are the dedicated parents who worked with their twin sons Michael and Matthew who both achieved their Eagle Scout award this last Sunday. Now that also means that those brothers also had a lot of hard work and dedication of their own over these last many years. Add to that, their older brother Eric also achieved the Eagle Scout award a couple of years earlier and I think you will agree with me. . . Wow! Three sons and three Eagle Scout awards. Congratulations to Karl and his family on these achievements and thank you Karl for being a great example of a Dad who has done what is needed to juggle work and family to ensure success for his family. Those boys have a great foundation to build from as their adult years ahead unfold. |
In last week's blog, I summerized the first few sessions we covered based on Patrick Morley's Man in the Mirror series - Man Alive. Before I close on those remaining sessions, please consider the following. Remember: the journey forward is up to each of us. If you have any questions on the information shared or would like to know more about the Man Alive sessions - use our Contact Form and we'll respond as soon as we can. Thank you for awareness on the above and pondering these words from the Boy Scout oath. . . “On my honor I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout law; to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight”.
