| Pastor David Jeremiah reminds us that our prayers should not be wordy, but should be focused on our thoughts, concerns and requests. For example: 1st: Praise God, He has blessed you, have your praised Him? Matthew 6:9 "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name." 2nd: [set your] Priorities, as we look for discernment, remember . . . I am a person (I have a relationship with God), I am a partner (I have a relationship with my spouse), I am a parent (I have a relationship with my children), I am a provider (I have a responsibility in my job), I am a participant (I have a responsibility in other things that I am asked to do). Matthew 6:10 "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." |
4th: [it is okay to ask for] Protection, because we (and our loved ones) need protection. Matthew 6:13a "And do not lead us in to temptation, but deliver us from evil."
5th: [and) Praise again, because we want God to know how thankful we are. Matthew 6:13b "For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen."
