And as you think of and thank them - we also remember the good women from the Bible.
For example like the men listed last week; Eve, Sarah, Leah, Rahab, Bathsheba, Mary Magdalene, Martha. The first was deceived, the second struggled in faith, the third supported deception, the fourth entertained . . . the fifth was swayed, the sixth had her demons and the seventh was distracted. Not that these struggles defined them but they did challenged them.
Then there was Deborah (who was one of Israel's Judges), and Ruth (who was loyal to her mother-in-law and her new faith), and Hadassah (who became Queen Ester and saved her people), and Anna (the Prophetess who was dedicated to God), and Elizabeth (who had faith and was the mother of John the Baptist), and Mary (the sister of Martha who anointed Jesus before His crucifixion), and Mary (chosen of God, mother of Jesus).
Why do we remember them? Because they all may have had some challenge or mistakes in their lives but haven't we all? All fourteen of these women remind us; it doesn't matter who we are or how good we've been, God has a plan for us. Our challenge, do we see God's plan and pursue?
