And now on to our session seven discussion on "Every Man's Adventure with Eternity".
- Did you know that the decision we make in regards to our faith (or not), is one of the most important decisions that we will ever make?
- For when we decide if we do or do not have a faith, that the rest of our life will be impacted by that decision.
- You may not agree with what is stated above and that is ok - we do encourage you to consider the following (and remember, this is just a few summary points, let us know if you would like to know more).
First, if you have a faith - whether it be Modern Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism, Christian or whatever, do you know the differences between them? (we received a great summary on each of these so let me know if you would like me to send you that information). | Second, assuming you have a faith and are trying to pursue it - we assume you have these two questions. a) How good do I have to be to merit heaven? b) Is there another way to heaven besides being good enough (because I'm not sure what good enough is)? |
We share it as follows because you may see aspects in your life or you may wish to consider.
The work Jesus has done for me (NOW).
- He forgives all my sins (ref. "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins." Col. 2:13).
- He gives me an eternal life (ref. "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:11-13).
- He makes me a child of God (ref. "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12).
- And because we pursue our Christian faith - He guarantees our place in heaven (and your assignment is to look up Philippians 3:20-21).
- He helps me to experience an abundant life (ref. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10).
- He helps me to do good works (ref. "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Eph. 2:10).
- He helps me to love others (ref. "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12).
- And because I work to grow my faith - I earn or forfeit rewards in heaven (and your assignment is to look up 1 Corinthians 3:10-15).
Now all the above was a lot to review and to consider (thank you). It all leads back to that big question we must all ask - do I believe is there something after I die? If your answer is yes, we hope you will join us on the pursuit of The Great Adventure that all men deserve. If you can't make our weekly meetings, at least follow this website, the weekly blogs provided and ask questions or add your comments. | Remember, all the above is a lot to absorb. We have Pastors available if you would like to talk with one of them. Or if myself (Keith) or any of the men of our Men's Fraternity can help as you ponder and pursue the life you want to have - please let us know. |
