When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me".
These words from I Corinthians 13:11 are a litmus test for men. Have we made the transition, to put our youth behind us and now pursue manhood as we should? As a young men, we can use this step from our childhood as the starting point for our manhood.
From session three (Pausing to Process) we learn to look at and to determine - "what are the milestones for us as men to know and pursue?" If we men don't ask ourselves the "big hairy questions" we should, how do if know if our life is on or off track? Some may find the lyrics from the Beatles song - Yesterday, as applicable for them. There are many perspectives that we should take the time to consider - for example: "Am I not enjoying life, am I burdened by too much responsibility (do I need help) ?" Or... "how do I make my family an adventure and not feel like it is a grind (do I make the time to be connected with my wife and kids) ?" Or... "I would like have a cause to live for, how do I go about finding one?" We discussed the four adventures available to us for a blessed and successful life (to help on the above). Some key points from those are as follows: | "Yesterday" (by the Beatles) Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be There's a shadow hanging over me Oh, yesterday came suddenly Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday Yesterday love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday Why she had to go? I don't know, she wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday Yesterday love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday |
