First, our topic was: Helping Men Climb Out of Their Rut. Which raises the question - is there someone you know who is in a rut? That is a good question we all should remember because anyone can need some help from time to time. Keep in mind the following: a. life can distract us - are you becoming prideful or in doubt of what the Bible teaches us? |
It boils down to being able to recognize if others are in a rut - and when we see that, we know there is something we can do. For example, do what you can for a stranger. For a friend, you may be able to help in a more ongoing way. We need to remember, if God puts someone in our path who is stuck, discipleship means finding out why and then help them to solve that problem.
The what, why, where, when and how is all up to us. We all can help others in at least one way or another. We can do more than we think, just don't compromise your values.
Second - and in closing. All the above ties back to our Men in the Mirror session, Pat Morley's talk about Hanging Out With Jesus. We learned to keep our focus on our faith and to keep watch (reference Matthew 25:1-13). Remember, we are called to be faithful. That person on our path may be there because God knows we can help. Missed opportunities are just that. We can't go back but lets all try to do what we can, when we can - when we do, we are pursuing our faith.
Help others to gain a kingdom perspective - it's a good thing!
